Delicious food! Had the catfish, m mac & cheese, and hush puppies. Wow! I'm surprised this place is not bigger with how good the food is.
Do yourself a favor and visit this place. You won't be disappointed! Great portions and flavor. The fact that they honored my request and gave extra char to my plantains . The food and hospitality are on point! Share!
The fried shrimp were amazing. Great service too as it was ensured that my order was fresh.

Great quality. & the Crab Cake is a MUST! Areas for improvement: Seasoning on certain dishes maybe? I enjoy the flavors, but for some they may say certain dishes (ex. Shrimp and Grits) aren't as flavorful as other soul food restaurants. Also, I know that sometimes they are short staffed, so eventually consistent hours. I wish the location was changed to attract more people consistently but I think people are becoming more aware and finding them.
If you haven't tried Cea-Lo L.A. , what are you waiting for?! The food is amazing. This is the crispiest, tastiest breading you will find on Wings, Shrimp, or fish in the city. There is no hint of grease whatsoever. It's just light, and crunchy, and the way that it should be but since you haven't tried it yet you don't know. Place is clean, well decorated, and run by the friendly owner. Tip: make sure you look at the menu before calling in your to go order so that you know what you want. This food is satisfying, and you get copious quantities. The catfish was awesome, as was the Mac, and the yams. Dodger fans- come represent and support this business. You will be happy you tried it. I will be back for sure.
We were in the area and this Soul Food place popped up on Yelp as a restaurant to try. When we checked out the menu, they had a separate menu with vegetarian AND vegan options! Customer service was good and helpful. They asked about our dietary restrictions and pointed out things on the menu we could have. Also the prices were very good as well. They were getting ready to have an event so there was music and a small amount of people gathered inside the dining area. There's also a small shared parking lot and parking in the neighborhood. This is definitely a place we would return to and try some more options!
Big fan of these successful mom-and-pop establishments and this one came highly recommended by fellow yelpers. I'm a self-proclaimed connoisseur of the fried chicken and I'm always on the hunt. Too many Nashville-type places around the LA area and it seems like it's getting harder to find ones that just sell the classic southern-style fried chicken. At any rate, Cea-Lo had what I was looking for and then some. Really loved their soul food options, and since I couldn't eat everything there, I ordered the following: - 6 piece chicken wing dinner with two sides - 8.5/10: Solid chicken pieces that you can tell took a lot of time to craft. Made-to-order from the owner himself, Chef Chris (his arms were dusted with flour as he was working both the kitchen and register), so you know everything was crisp, fresh and juicy. Coating wasn't overly seasoned - surprisingly mild - and the chicken itself was not oily either. Just really solid fried chicken. Loved the potato salad as well. Large scooping and well-crafted with subtle flavors. Perfect compliment. Also loved the side of plantains. Well-cooked with some caramelization. Like I said, if you're in a real hurry, you should probably call in to pick up as this is definitely not fast food. Limited seating inside and not too many parking spaces outside, but if you can, eat it there while everything is hot and fresh. The menu is varied enough that will make me want to come back and try the other items as well. A couple near me had ordered the catfish and dirty rice and I got some serious food envy! Last note, shout out to Chef Chris. Really cool guy who had a friendly, welcoming demeanor. Asked how I found out about his place, I told him Yelp!
When I'm outta town I like to try places I can't get back at home! I found one yall! Walked in right as they opened the the owner/operated greeted me with in quality fashion! The menu had so many things to choose from but I settled on the catfish dinner with collards and rolling John rice, and I wanted to try Cea-Lo crab cake! I'll scream it from the mountain top! IT WAS ALL FIRE!! The crab cake: light on the breading heavy on the crab!! It was off the hook! It seemed like nothing but crab in every bite! Delicious! Must get if you coming here! The catfish: fried to perfection light well seasoned! It was hecka good. The collards: while I do like mine with smoked turkey and a little vinegar. These collards were really good! I'd get again! The Rolling John: it was the red rice with black eyed peas on top I enjoyed this also! I recommend! If you are in the area or looking for something new/different! Come here! Trust me I don't think you'll be disappointed!! 10 outta 10 I do recommend!!
My friend told me about this restaurant and told her I would try it out. Due to certain occurrences the day I went, the menu was very limited. The traditional full menu was not available which was a disappointment. I ordered the catfish and shrimp with two sides and It was good. They made your order fresh so everything was hot. The catfish/shrimp plate was tender with a tasty seasoned batter. The greens and yams were pleasing. The yams could have been a little more sweet but overall, it was good. The hush puppies were delicious they had a sweet zest to them which was good with the greens. The macaroni and cheese per my mom was good. I ordered my sister the chicken with two sides to go and she said the chicken was just ok. The place is cool inside with limited seating. The parking lot is small but you can park on the street too. The owner, Greg was very nice and personable. Whenever I go back, I will try the full menu with a dessert.
